Re: Pulling on lead
hi
i had that problem too with my collie, one way to try is when your walking, when she pulls stop - she'll look at you kinda strange (probally!!) wait for her to walk back to you and stand beside you and then carry on again - do this every time shes pulls too hard - the down side to this it does get a bit annoying if shes persistant in pulling - but it one method that works. Or another method which i was told by a trainer is (if your right handed) have her on your right side hold her lead acrosss your body in your left hand and in your right hand have some small treats - show her that they are there - as you are walking talk to her telling her shes a good girl while shes walking nicely and every now and again when shes walking well remind the treats are there by rewarding her a little bit - the key to this is keeping her attention dont give her chance to pull. good luck - if these methods dont work theres always training harness, collars, halti's that you can get to correct this. hope some of this might help, susie

Re: Pulling on lead
we had this problem with storm, we started off with a halti face collar. Instant success, he stopped pulloing straight away. We used that for a few months then moved onto a halti harness which we still use now, it's really comfy for him, easy to use and he doesn't pull at all.

Re: Pulling on lead
thanks tashi
Ive just mentioned this to my husband and he has said the same as you. He saw this being done on dog borstal. Im not keen on using any sort of anti-pulling device, she is still very young, so I will give this a try tomorrow - my neighbours will be wondering what im up to, when I keep changing direction.
