Re: Car sickness
Thanks, it is nice to hear that some people have been in the same boat and their dogs have grown out of it.
How long was it before you pup started to improve? We've had Bailey for 6 weeks now and she is just as bad, we take towels, bags, wipes with us everywhere we go. We usually have to stop twice on the way to wherever we are going to tidy up her crate |

We had a dog that was very anxious about being in the car but only when in the crate, we like you didnt want to have him swaying about, but the anxiety stopped in no time once he was out of the crate could see us, what was happening outside and became very good at keeping upright and balancing when going round corners they do learn how to cope with the swaying and compensate, do though put something thick on the boot floor or wherever yours sits when traveling if you have a hatchback they are better in there as its more level than a back seat and do take her out in the car whenever you can. |

Re: Car sickness
My boy (Bailey!) had car sickness when he was younger, drools and everything but he's started to grow out of it. We've got him a harness that clips in to the seat belt and he's great with it. He used to be quite wary about geting in the car but now he knows it means there will be good places at the end of it so he happily jumps in now!

Re: Car sickness
I used to give ginger nut biscuits to my setter as she was very travel sick as a puppy. Sea legs is also supposed to be good but I wouldn't know what dosage to give you puppy. I have never needed to use them the ginger biscuits have worked with mine.

Re: Car sickness
I've tried giving her little bits of stem ginger (the kind in syrup in a jar) and bought some dog travel tablets which I don't think did much.
I've also bought a harness which clips in to the seat belt but haven't tried it yet...mainly because I'm worried she will poo and be sick on the seats! We have tried her up in the front on our knee (I know that is bad) and she was much better, still lots of drool and she was sick one time all over me which was but obviously no pooping as she's on our lap. It's obviously not safe for her to be on a lap in the front so we have been putting her in the crate in the back again. I know perseverance is all that will fix this, it is hard sometimes - you want to take her out somewhere fun like the beach which is only a mile away, but you end up stopping every 2 mins to clean up. ![]() Rhiannan |

Re: Car sickness
No air-con in the jeep, we usually open the windows for her so there is fresh air. She settles ok in the crate, lies down as soon as she's in. But after a min or two will stand up, start whining, then 2 seconds later poo in the crate. So we stop, clean up, then off we go again and she lies down again.
