Question help! my 2yr 6months old lab has some strange behaviours

my 2.5yr old lab snapped and bit my 3yr old beagle's ears every time someone picks the beagle up or after they were separated (eg. after the beagle came back from the vet and she was left at home) and also every time neighbour dogs pass by the fence.

other than this the lab is usually gentle and nice. she likes to exercise very much, she wouldn't stop swimming on a hot day and will beg me to play fetch with her every evening but she is very clumsy (i dont know if it's usual for a labrador) she often slip and fall when running in full speed and often hit her head on the fence when trying to catch ball.

she does not associate with other dogs, she only plays with the beagle whereas the beagle is very good with any dogs she just met.

the lab will not play with my friends she just met. she would watch them play with the beagle from a distant for awhile and then start to sniff them carefully before she can relax around them.

other than that she is quite normal for a labrabor her age.

will this get worse? what can i do to fix this?

I'm not a Lab owner, but is she biting hard and hurting the beagle?
With my dogs Zipper will chase and 'bite' at Lily's ears when she comes in and especially does it after she's been in the river (Zipper refuses to go in) he doesn't hurt her they just have a bit of rough play and a little game of chase.
I just thought it was his way of saying he missed her

Two ideas, but without seeing your dog it is difficult to come to a conclusion.
She may feel vulnerable when around other dogs, maybe because of lack of socialization or possibly due to some form of pain, the pain may be from a slight leg injury as you say she falls over.
The ear nipping, if it has only just started could be a sign that she is challenging the hierarchy with the beagle, but more likely is just the way she plays

thank you very much fleur and rona

first the ear biting didn't seem so aggressive but the last few times did put some marks on the beagle's ears but right after they cool down the lab would go in and lick the ear gently.

umm.. one thing though.. it is summer and getting really hot around here.

Re: help! my 2yr 6months old lab has some strange behaviours

Probably just excitement and it sounds as if the Lab hasn't really learned bite inhibition. Lots of dogs will get excited if another dog is picked up - I think they sort of see it as a toy, plus of course the chase/prey drive is triggered by frustration that they can't get to it.

Similarly, frustration at not being able to get to the dog on the other side of the fence may mean that the Lab "takes it out" on the Beagle (although it's still not really aggression as such).

That's what it sounds like, anyway.

What would happen if she was outside of the fence with other dogs around? will they fight?

Yesterday it happened again but human this time. Two people came by and tried to play with the beagle. The lab snapped and bit the beagle's ear but afterward i checked the ear and didn't see any injury. I then saw a fresh mark on my lab's lip. I'm sure it wasn't there before this happened.

I'm trying some basic obedience training but don't have time to do it everyday. I also try to get the lab to socialize with people. She'd bark at them first and if they are calm she'd stop and turn away but if they scream or ran she would not stop barking until i pull her away.

btw. I live in rural Thailand. tried but still no luck on finding a professional trainer.
