drinking noises!!

new dog is making funny noises, like choking when he is having a drink, any ideas what this could be???

What breed of dog is it ? some dogs if they have a lot of excess floppy jowel can be real noisy when they eat or drink , some are just greedy and will lap up more than they can swallow, you could try putting bowls on a raised feeding stand to see if it helps this way the head isnt down making eating and drinking easier.
