Re: pulling on the lead.

hi

when the dog pulls you should stop wait for it to come back to you then start again - its a bit tedious but does work. ive never tried the halti so cant comment on that but i used the 'lupi' its a training harness made of soft rope that goes around the chest of the dog and tightens when they pull. i've only know one dog that this hasnt worked on - and thats my collie - but then nothing works for her - not even private training with an ex police officer!!!!! - the first method stopping and waiting accompained with the lupi worked great with our shepherd - and ive known loads of people use the lupi with good recomendations - you can get them on the interent.

hope things start improving - i know how hard it can get - as i still put up with it with my collie - ive just got used to the fact that nothing is going to change her - ive tried everything i can (i cant try the halti as she gets nervous and scared of things that go aroung her head - ive even had a problem with some collars - i have to use a harness for her.)

keep us posted to how things go

If they pull on the lead just turn around and head the other way, then turn back again. If they carry on pulling then carry on turning back until they stop pulling.

Re: pulling on the lead.

if you have sky tv try watching 'At the end of my leash.' Its on the animal channel, the guy who comes into your house to train your dogs hes great. All he does with dogs that pull on lead is get the end of lead and hoop it through the lead then wrap it around your waist then attach the other end to the dog collar. Honest it works!
You have to do this even inside the house. All it does is stop the dog from showing you where it wants to go instead you show him where you want to go.

This one is quite good to try espically if they start pulling when leaving house (only go to the gate then back in) or when you get back to the house. I sometimes have a problem where mine wants to chew his lead and pull it, I say "no bite" and if it doesn't work straight way then I make him sit and calm down. When we walk again, he he pulls really bad (a little pull I say heal) I make him sit.

Its really starting to work and he has started to automaticlly stop when I do with out me having to say any thing!
