winniebarney is on a distinguished road
tyson

tyson is now 7 months old and still will not go out of the back door to do his business
i am at the end of my tether with him
he will go into the kitchen to eat and drink but is awfully terrified of the back door
have tried calling him from outside
picking him up and placing him out side
dragging him through door by his collar
nothing seems to work
h ewill go out of front door tho to toilet!!
is any of this due to being in a high rise flat B4 we got him??
we live in a house with 2 doors!!

Re: tyson

my rotti never did toilet in his garden he would wee but never poo, i dont want to sound harsh hun but dont drag him out there is a reason why he will not go out of the door take your time with him and think as he ever hurt himself going that way as somthing spoked him build is confidence up by dragging him out will only make it 10 times worse, walk through the door with some tasty treats and through a few in front of him praise him when he moves forward then leave it there dont make him do it keep at it every day and make him trust you nothing will happen to him good luck x

Re: tyson

Ok, he goes in the kitchen to eat and drink but there must be something about the back door that freaks him out.

Can you put his food and water bowls closer to the back door, so he gets more used to it. Maybe even if its nice, put his food outside?

Definately don't drag him, that will make him worse.

How about, get him involved in a good game of chase? ie- you have his fave toy or get him exited, and run all over the house with him chasing you, in and out various rooms, then go out the back door?

Or, just don't make a big deal of it- put him on his lead and get him really focused on you, try and go through the door with him, maybe at a run?

x
