Chewing Cupboard Doors

HELP!!!
My 8mth old Beagle has just started to chew the kitchen cupboard doors when she is shut in there when everyone is out. She has all her toys and we stuff a kong with cream cheese which we freeze before we go out.
We spray some anti chew spray on the bottoms of the cupboards.
We don't quite know how to stop it.

Any ideas greatly welcomed!!
xx

Re: Chewing Cupboard Doors

Hi. Dogs usually destroy because they are bored. How long a walk are you giving before leaving her? The less energy she has, then the less she will chew. Even if you succeed in her stopping chewing the doors, the chances are she will chew something else.

The key is draining energy!

Good luck x

Probably better to concentrate the damage to just one area.

Apart from caging her, im not sure what to suggest. I dont think crating would be an option for the 2 days you are gone for over 7 hours either.

How big of a walk does she get before you go?

Re: Chewing Cupboard Doors

she has a half hour walk in the morning. if im home, she can mainly sleep most of the day. so part of me thinks shes lonely.
shes also just realised that she can chew the knobs off the oven.
think it has just tipped me over the edge today. just dont know what to do

Re: Chewing Cupboard Doors

Is there anyway you could walk her longer? Get her really tired out?

You could try a dog cage on the days when you are out for 4 hours, i used to crate mine for that amount of time, and they were fine aslong as they had had a good run before hand.

Could you afford a dog walker? Get someone to take her out and break up her day. Destruction is usually the result of boredom and frustration.

Or you could try and make some sort of indoor pen. That way she has more room, but cant access anything to chew it.

Its not an easy one to deal with.
