Licking!

First of all let me say that this isn't a problem - I was just wondering if any of you have this with your dogs and to see if anyone can pinpoint the reason!
My 5 year old CKCS quite happily gives us 'kisses' as well as licking us when one of us is 'under the weather'. Recently we have started letting him sleep on the bed with us - he jumps up when we go to bed, lies in-between us facing us....and licks and licks and licks us! Not on our faces but hands and arms! It seems like he will go on all night but eventually, after us continually saying 'that's enough' he will stop, then turn around so he's facing the end of the bed and go to sleep.
He often lies with me on the sofa, during the day and the evening and will not do it then.
Any suggestions?

Re: Licking!

No suggestions, but my 9 year old Stafford is merely a tongue with eyeballs and feet. Whilst he will try to lick your face, he mostly just licks arms and hands. Anyone who comes in the house gets a good washing unless you shove a toy in his mouth, then he wanders around "talking" and wagging him bum.
Hes quite a submissive dog, although hes not a roll over and expose the belly kid of dog, i think due to the fact that he gets quite anxious and panicky.

Aslong as he leaves my face alone, i dont mind. If guests dont like it, then the dogs are shut out of the room.

Re: Licking!

I think you've hit the nail on the head because if you say thats enough and he stops you are almost there its become a habit. So keep saying no as soon as it starts.
