Growling cocker!

My new puppies Alfie and Bobby have been great so far, they are 10 weeks old. Bobby has just started growling if we pick him up, he wants to be picked up but just growls when we do. The breeder says to ignore him and he will stop. Any advice would be great.

Re: Growling cocker!

For the time being just tell him UH UH in a very stern voice & put him down.

Ensure that you do not have their toys lying around all over the place. Keep them in a box and you decide when they play with what.

Start making him "work" for stuff. Teach him sit and make him "sit" for any rewards like dinner or fuss.

Book in a training class. Sure he is just pushing his luck and will soon realise you are the boss

Thanks will try that. It sounds horrible coming from such a young puppy.

Re: Growling cocker!

My youngest used to growl to let you know she wanted something.
I quick loud SSSHHHHTTT and ignore her until she was quiet and only playing coming up on the Sofa etc when I said soon sorted her out.
Rainy's advice was spot on.
