first training class tonight...

Banjo & I have our first training class tonight and I'm so nervous! Don't really know what to expect and I think I need a bit of reassurance really. I'm scared we're going to be quite disruptive as Banjo loves playing with other dogs, I shall be walking him there (it's about an hours walk away) so hopefully he won't be quite so full of beans when we arrive.

How old is Banjo? Only I note you say you are walking to the class and it's an hours walk there! Depending on his age this may be too much for him!
When I first started with my youngest she used to get tired and bored during training, ending up uninterested and lolling around! Was actually hardr work then had she been fresh!

Re: first training class tonight...

All classes are different.

Where i go it's outdoors and there are LOTS of dogs. It is very well organised doggy chaos The classes are well taught and structured though.

Believe me you will not be the only one there with a bouncy dog i am sure.

If it is indoors bear in mind though that these type of classes don't always suit bouncy dogs.

To be honest the main reason you are there to start with is to get your dog used to other dogs. Anyone can teach sit, down, stand, heel at home with a book so relax and have fun

Just remember it is meant to be a pleasurable thing for you and your pup and if it isn't there is no point.

Take some small cubes of cheese (if your dog is tolerant), your dog will love you for it

He's 9 months old now and we usually walk for at least 1.5 hours twice a day so it won't be anything unusual for him. I don't drive and I've not tried getting him on the bus yet!
Thanks for your comments Rainy- I'm sure we'll be fine once we're there.

Re: first training class tonight...

Max had his first training class last night but he showed me by "humping" a golden lab called Lucy, he is only 12 weeks so thought it was a little early for things like this. He does have good taste as the lab was really georgous.
