cats and dogs?

Just sitting at home watching the mini soap opera that is 2 hyper puppies and 9 cats and wondering.
How do other peoples cats and dogs get on?
You often get posts about dogs chasing cats and wanting to eat them, or they just get on fine, what about those inbetween?
I ahve one dog who loves all cats and cant spend enough time with them. One dog who has to boss them about and will chase occassionally if he thinks he can get away with it!(he's only 6Ibs).
Out of the cats, the youngest thinks that the dogs are there to entertain her, the girls pretty much ignore them, the 2 mellow ones will cuddle up and wash the dogs and vice versa and the oldest moggies hate them with a passion!!
Banjo the moggy and Adam the chihuahua have knock down drag out fights which are all noise but look soooo vicious. However the minute I sit down all hostilities cease and everyone piles on my lap!!LOL
So how about you??

Re: cats and dogs?

i have 2 cats and harley my chihuahua and my cats dont get along there is always fur flying in my house as for harley he loves them but they dont like him they put up with him but i could never go out and leave them all together so harley gets left in the sitting room smudge in my eldest sons bedroom and looshus has the kitchen lol
smudge and harley chase each other around the house but would never sleep together looshus would sleep with harley if they were on my knee but would have a swipe at him if he got the chance so all in all its usually chaos in my house lol

lol this sounds like my house but on a bigger scale!

Billy, loves the cats and plays great games of fisticuffs with my persian kitten , its all growls and bity-face but they then snuggle up and clean each other. My moggie loves him, and treats him like her baby, but then she has kittens so its kind of understandable. My other cat is evil encarnate and will hide behind corners just to ambush him lol, she loves to wind him up, and then sits just out of reach looking all innocent . As the kittens grow i'm sure they will join in the games too. I have another couple of fosters in too at the moment, but they are upstairs in the kitten room settling in and busy getting into condition before their babies are born. It will be another 3or4 weeks before he meets them.

Re: cats and dogs?

I gotta say one advantage of winter is that I get to put the fier on in the living room and watch the effect it has on 'the troops'!
Its like pet waccy baccy! They get all mellow and boneless and lounge around together in total harmony. Suppose I'll have to wait for sun bathing weather before they get that mellow again. he he
