Re: Pup SBT naughty when left home alone...by MEN..Owner puzzled!

Good idea the melted cheese in the Kong
Diego always stays with a Kong and a chew thing to keep him busy anyway!

Its not that bad that i really worry about it or anything..and as long as we keep things away from his reach its usually perfectly fine...its just a bit of a puzzle why he would behave like this with my BF AND the male pet-sitter...
I thought at the beginning that it was just him not being used to my BF leaving him alone but I left them 2 boys alone for 2 weeks and instead of getting better and better it seemed to get worse at the end...so..

But yes I suppose hes also still a pup and therefore a chewer
As long as i dont have to leave my BF solely in charge for several weeks (plus it is difficult for one person to do everything, to tire the dog out and keep a routine etc etc) any time soon I think ill be fine he'll calm down on his own probably.

And ill keep to female pet-sitter for the time being

I suppose Separation Anxiety can have many causes...

we'll work on my BF leaving him alone more but for short periods of time!

Thanks guys!

yes you dont have to leave him long, you go out and 10mins later get your BF to leave go to the shops for 20 mins and both of you return home and really praise him for been good he as to learn to be left by men and not just women, if my OH takes my dogs out there fine if he holds the leads and im locking up kye my staffie rescue boy loves my OH but always looks back for me, but i spend so much time with them as OH works away all week, Tess my little girl is 5 years old and as always been around us both so she is happy with the situations kye is around 5 years and only had him 6 months so he dose seem to be more for me but you will get there get your BF doing more with him and walking him alone just the 2 of them

A quick point to make if i may. Dogs with SA should be ignored until calm when you come home. The idea of going away and coming back is that the difference of you being there and not should be minimal in the dog's mind. So calm homecomings are critical!

Thanks,

Nick
