Question Pug Puppy Walks..... not moving!

We have a 13 week old pug which we have been trying to take for walks the past couple of days. She seems to just sit and not move, sometimes even if we try to move her by offering her treats but still sometimes she doesnt move for them or she will eat them then wait a bit untill we have to bring the treat right up to her nose then moving it while we walk. This doesnt always make her move though. Any ideas on how we can get her to walk with us with her lead on?

Re: Pug Puppy Walks..... not moving!

Hi, I found that when Dixie was little and I took her out without the big dogs (as she folowed them no probs) she sat and looked at me like i was stupid!
She followed me about the house no probs so I put her on a light extendy lead. She soon realised I was getting too far away from her and raced to catch up!
She got heaps of praise and a treat for catching up Didn't take her long.

I think it's extra hard work with Pugs, I've seen several owners going nowhere fast. I think they must be quite lazy dogs
I've no experience of the breed so someone may say different

Hi ya and welcome to the forum...Have you tried just putting the lead on in the house? let your pup run around the house with it on a few times, then when he's happy take the lead..a few mins at a time, he will soon get the hang of it..lol can't they be stuburn little beggars sometimes...good luck.

Totally agree janice, im helping a guy who lives next door to mum he as a little staffie pup and it will not walk on the lead, i put the lead on her in the house and played games asking her to come and then when she comes over to me a praise her, we then took her down the road in the car and walked back up the road it took a while but we got there in the end, its getting them used to the lead and havin gthe lead on in the house really works a treat good luck and keep us updated
