Scratching walls

How do I stop Ben from scratching my door frames. He has the run of the kitchen when we are out at work and he seems to have started to scratch the door frames enough that he is taking off the paint. This has only just started and want to know is there anyway that I can stop him from doing this. He has loads and loads of toys and chew things and is not left on his own for any length of time. He tends to do this as well at the weekends in the morning.

Help again !!!

He doesnt seem to be chewing it, he must be scratching it with his feet. The angle of the door frame and the gate means he wouldn't be able to get his teeth into it.

Re: Scratching walls

One of mine does exactly the same thing. He gets stressed when we leave and scratches at the door as he hates being locked in. Haven't found a way to get him to stop - both dogs have kongs, chew toys, etc so I don't think that's the problem...have resigned myself to having to repaint the door at some point...
