Severe social anxiety problem, any ideas?

I have 2 male neutred Bicheon Frisses, one 10 but acts like 6 and a 15 year old who very sadly will not be with us for much longer.

We always knew the younger dog had slight seperation anxiety when we left the house, and he has spent his entire life with our elder dog.

Recently we took the elder dog to the vets and left the other one at home, with myself. He went APE i honestly thought he had broken his leg or something he was howling at the top of his voice and running around the house like a crazy thing. This happens everytime the elder dog leaves and he will not calm down untill he is back.

My worry is can he learn to adapt to life as a only dog this late in life? Are there anyy good techniques for older dogs with severe sep anxiety? Or would my only option to get him a comanion when the horrible time occurs?

Sorry for the long post, any advice at all would be hugely appreciated

Sorry I'm not going to be much help, but it does sound as if you might have to get another dog, maybe an older rescue would suit

Sorry I've not experienced this myself yet - although I think my little one does depend on our other dog, so I'll be interested in any replies.

I think Rona may be right a suitable older dog from a rescue could be the answer.

Hi. If you are happy to get another dog then I would get a rescue of a similar age/energy level to your younger dog. This will save you the problem of resolving this (I think it will be a problem for you) and you get to give a lovely home to a rescue dog. Good luck x
