Male or Female

I'm thinking of getting another dog, I have a 3 year old male jack russell at the moment, I was wondering if its ok if I get another male, or would a female be a better option?? Hes not aggressive, but are two males more likely to fight than a male & female?

Re: Male or Female

I'm no expert, but we got a dog and a bitch and they get on fine.
Lots of people have 2 dogs or 2 bitches and they get on fine, but for us we though one of each would be best.
Zipper and Lilly are our first dogs and after speaking to lots of people we thought it would be easier to have one of each.
Some people we spoke to said that 2 males or 2 females can sometimes have a tendency to fight more.

Re: Male or Female

i would say female would be better as female/male mostly works out great
male/male can work out too but there is a chance it wont.

Re: Male or Female

The old saying is two dogs will fight for breeding rights, two bitches will fight for breathing rights

Personally I would go for a bitch, but you also need to think about when she comes into season and can you keep them apart for at least 4 weeks whilst she is in season...if not then I would suggest getting the bitch spayed.

I have a dog and bitch who get along great
