In just about every case, dog bites are the result of handler and victim error. A little knowledge can go a long way to prevent bites.

Re: Dog Bite Prevention: Dogs Bite When Humans Greet Inappropriately

Agree. walking mine yesterday just stopped them at the roadside to wait for traffic and three boys waving hockey sticks came charging up behind us shouting 'can we stroke them'

I managed to say no and keep them at bay...Calmed the dogs and then explained...

The dog is obeying a command to wait... He cant see behind him.. he cant tell the difference between a friendly running shouting person and an attacker esp when you wave sticks in the air.

Always approach a dog calmly and from the front ask if you may pet him, dont yell, dont scream ,dont run, dont wave things in his face.....Hopefully they will remember, next time they mght not be so lucky...
Corinthian and moonviolet like this.
