Pre Puppy Reading. Which trainer, what book??

Hello, hopefully in April I'll have a doby pup.

I've got a number of dog training, canine behaviour books that have been fun to read and insightful. Sometimes they'll be different approaches to the same task, and having a good range of books / knowledge allows me to choose the best.

I recently purchased 'Before and after getting your puppy by Ian Dunbar' as it was recommended to me.

I'm just wondering if anyone could recommend books that they read and found helpful with regards to preparing for a puppy, and training it etc.

I'm only looking for books that put a positive spin on training, so no hitting, prodding, shouting at, or alpha rolls etc etc.

It'd be nice if you could also put a few tips that helped you that perhaps isn't in a book you've read.

Thank you!

If you can make your visits to the breeder on a Monday you would be welcome to come up to training with her

please don't hate me, but those books are both available as free downloads on DogStar Daily -

that's Dunbar's website, which also has many useful FREE handouts on the 'download' page, plus all the videos,
articles, links, blogs, etc, elsewhere on the website. It's ENORMOUS --- go poke about, see what tips, treasures,
& training-protocols U find.

The Dog-Giggler is not a book, it's a channel on UTube, but the lessons are very good, the classes are 'real',
there's no editing - a young child who wanders into the frame is called back by Mom, dogs & handlers both
make mistakes, but it's fun, enlightening, & reward-based, humane training.

similarly, ANYthing on UTube by KikoPup AKA Emily Larlham is going to be excellent: well-explained,
clearly demonstrated, safe & kind.

Cheers everyone for your advice, links etc.

I didn't know that book was free on that site hehe, Oh well it wasn't expensive and at least increased my kindle book collection

Hawksport - sounds funky. Thanks once more I owe you a drink or two.

I was just making sure that Ian Dunbar was a good choice.

Cheers.
