Re: when can I walk him?

Thank you everyone for your advice. I did question this with the breeder last month who again said no walks until 6 months old. I have however been socialising him, taking him to puppy training, and carrying him around everywhere once he had his vaccinations several weeks ago. Have also been sitting outside my house so that he can watch traffic and other people go by. As I said, his energy levels are going through the roof and I've been going up the wall thinking that I still have another 2 months before being able to walk him.

Re: when can I walk him?

He is a Boxer dog and he did look funny whilst I was carrying him around in my rucksuck with him strapped to my front with his head poking out. Cute but heavy! He won't fit in it anymore though.

Re: when can I walk him?

Seriously, I hope she meant exercise. I take all mine out asap after jabs. Although my rough collie can't jump etc until she's done growing so no agilty but a good walk is good for both of you. I have a hard enough time just lifting her into my vehicle could not imagine carrying her places....Jill

Re: when can I walk him?

This does seem very strange advice from your breeder. Does your pup have any health issues? Is it possible that the breeder has had experience of pups suffering from too much hard exercise too young, and has gone too far in the other direction? The thought of coping with a boxer pup of that age without being able to exercise him ....! Have you tried asking your vet? I can envisage you ending up with a bad back soon, if you have to keep on carrying him.

Re: when can I walk him?

No, my pup doesn't have any health issues. I took him out on his lead for 10 minutes today and he loved it! He wagged his tail the whole way and didn't take his eyes off me to make sure he was doing what he should be. He even found a stick to carry home. Thanks again everyone for your advice.
