Sashaandmorse is on a distinguished road
Hi from Southampton

Have 2 gorgeous dobermans - aged 7 (female = dominant and her brother v v submissive). Both extremely well socialised, love people, children, babies and other dogs. Every now and then and completely out of the blue, our girl Sasha will run up to a random dog and bark .....now sometimes it happens IF the other dog is nervous/anxious and the owner is the same (not sure if that's the reason) but other times it is for no apparent reason whatsoever. She always stops about 3-4 metres from the other dog then comes running back. Any ideas welcome please!!

Re: Hi from Southampton

Could you give us some more details?

What is her body language like when she does this? Is she very upright and stiff? Still or moving about? Ears and tail position? And what sort of barking - a single big bark, a series of barks?

Just wondering if it could be an invitation to play (Solo will often bark when trying to initiate play, although he usually bounces or play bows when he does it).

Its hard to get any idea of why she's doing it without really knowing much about what exactly she's doing.

Re: Hi from Southampton

hello and welcome to the forum from another dobe owner. like the previous poster said it could be an invitation to play. opie will do this when he's a wanting another dog to play and the other dog doesn't seem intrested. he always goes into a play bow and wags his tail first though
