Thanks Malmum

Have had a few mixed days since my last reports. To be honest I think its because our routine has been disrupted by visitors. One of my friends Alan (a tall imposing figure) seemed to be a treat to Molly and she reacted quite aggressively. I had to leave her muzzle on just in case but she eventully warmed to him.

Are there any tips about introducing new people into a dogs territory? She has no problem with people on the street and we dont have visitors regularly.

Another bad habit starting to occur is, the dogs next door barking or pottering about get her excited, she gets very boisterous and hard to handle. If I take her for a walk when shes in this mood she can sometimes bark at the first few people she meets and is just generally a pain.

I have started to write myself a timetable and some "daily to dos" so I can be consistent and stay on course.

I have a target but It seems well out of reach at the moment. I want to be able to take Molly and Finn camping in the summer without Molly being to hot to handle.

Re: Nearly Desperate, Help Needed

When people come to the house, ask them to ignore Molly(no eye contact, no touching etc etc) and give them some of her favourite treats and get them to throw them vaguely in her direction but not at her...she'll soon learn that new people mean treats, i would keep the muzzle on until she accepts people=treats. She's doing really well though

With the neighbours dog, if Molly gets excitable turn around and take her straight back inside, she'll soon learn she won't get anywhere with being boisterous.

I agree with the last post.Have a plan that when you know you are having a visitor almost set them up to what will happen when they come into your house and what is expected of them.Explained the training you are doing and they will understand.Give the visitor a couple of her treats, come inside, ignore,no eye contact, get them to throw over the treat then the second one they can give eye contact if she is accepting and then praise quietly'good girl' then carry on a conversation.Be consistent and keep up the good work.On a down day rememebr where you have come from with her and realise small steps are positive steps
