My 8mo Puppy is MAD, help!

Rye, my 8 month old lab pitt mix, is very smart. She unfortunately chooses when to disobey. I let her out to use the bathroom very regularly & she always complies, if I'm worried she may need to go I let her out immediately & she happily goes outside without a leash & runs right back in (we have our own backyard). When we are not home she stays in her cage & never goes potty there. If I stay up later than usual (for example, tonight I stayed up a couple hours later) she will find a location directly in front of me & PEE. I swear, she will look right at me as if to say, "I want to go to BED" & pee, has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what did you do to remedy it? My puppy is very smart but also very stubborn. Please help!

Re: My 8mo Puppy is MAD, help!

I have never met a stubborn dog, I do not believe dogs ARE stubborn.

I have met a lot of stubborn owners though!

If something is not working with my dogs, I do not blame THEM for errors I go and look in the mirror.

Dogs do what works, so I would review my strategy and ask myself:

Have I made it simple for the dog?
Have I actually TRAINED what I THOUGHT I trained?
Is the dog getting sufficient reward?
Am I taking her out enough?
Would it be a good idea to TEACH my dog to ring a bell to let me know she needs to go outside?
