We are making progress

I have done a few threads in the past on my 2 reactive dogs, Jake who became "dog aggresive" and Daisy who just generally thinks the whole world is against her and will bark at anything that moves, person or dog.
Well recently i have been trying really hard with both of them, giving them more 1 on 1 walks and we have been making great progress. Unfortunatly there is a lack of dogs in our area so bumping into them is not a daily thing but we had some dogs walking on the other side of the road to us the other day, i spotted them before Jake reacted so i got his attention (which was amazingly easy this time!) and i managed to walk without any reaction from him, fair enough the dogs were not very close but its still making progress, we will work up to being able to pass dogs on the same pavement.

Daisy has also managed a task of walking past some dogs, they caught her by surprise and were very close but she just had a quick inspect while walking past (she was too late to bark at them )
She did start barking when she spotted some people in the park, i decided to pick her up as i also had Jake with me and felt this was the easier option and good job i did as a few seconds later some delightful child comes charging at us screaming at my dogs with his arms open to pick Jake up, hmmm good job it was not Daisy. But as i had both of them every few minutes i would get both to stop and sit for a treat, then if i spotted a situation where i knew 1 would react i did this and most the times it worked.

So yeah quite pleased, hopefully it continues this way

Re: We are making progress

We had a bad day, jake was with this other dog they sniffed and were fine together till she tried to play he went mad at her. It doesn't make sense. I think i'll have to get a behaviourist :-(
