Anxious dog when left alone. Advice please.

My dog is 3 years old and previously she was fine when left alone in the house during the day.

I have recently moved and since then she has become anxious when left alone in the house alone. She is whining and howling/barking.

I have left her alone for a small amount of time and gradually increasing the time, but she doesn't seem to be stopping the barking/howling. I am leaving the radio on and leaving dog treats and bones for her to chew on, as well as all of her toys.

I don't know what else to do. Can anyone advise. How long does it typically take for a dog to adjust? Also is there anything else I can give her i.e. medication?

How long did you spend at home with her after you moved? it took Ferdie ages to settle into the new house and he had another dog to keep him company. I think it is very important until they feel at home.

It may be because there are different noises and everything probably smells different too. You could try leaving her with an old T-shirt or jumper you have worm in ther bed. Your smell often helps settle them and also re-assures them.

DAP Dog appeasing pheromone diffusers can help too to calm and soothe dogs.
Its an artificial version of the pheromone a mum emits to calm and sooth the pups, doesnt just work on pups though can be dogs of all ages. I still use them for fireworks and times of stress with my lot. It has now been renamed Adaptil. You can get them from vets and pets at home, Ive found on line cheaper and get mine from Vetmedic. Online Vet | Get Cheap Pet Medicine and Treatments Online From Vet-Medic - Vet-Medic, there are others too on line. That may be worth checking out.

Scullcap and Valerian is a natural herbal calmative thats very useful, it doesnt effect the dogs behaviour or makes them drowsy. That may help calm here while she gets re-established in new surroundings
Dorwest You can get that from Dorwest Herbs see link

Another medication thats natural and effective too is KalmAid again you can get that on line
Here is the link if you want to check that out
