Help with a Jack Russell pup

Hi my daughter has got a lovable Jack Russell pup who is about 16 weeks.

dolly is adorable and think she is a bigger dog! when she greets people and gets ready excited she bites a lot. It takes time to calm her down and stop the biting. Dolly listens to me and my husband but is still quite dominant over my daughter (she is 18years)
We have tried shouting, using a big voice etc but can anyone help us or give us advise on a devil dog jack russell.

She is lovely and loves to sit with you when she is quiet. she has her mad moments when she runs around the house in a loop and jumps over things like a greyhound!

thanks

Re: Help with a Jack Russell pup

This is what worked for Archie:

Whoever he was jumping up would stand still and straight, cross their arms (so he couldn't reach hands) and turn their back on him to ignore him and didn't give attention until he stopped jumping.

If biting when playing, yelp loudly and stop the game, ignore for a minute then play again!

A few times when ignoring didn't work, we would put him in kitchen for minute or two to calm down.

All these worked for Archie - just hated being ignored and soon learnt he got attention when he wasn't jumping or biting.

Hope it helps

Yes do agree with the above post. We do the same with our 14 week old whippet. If he persists and we have done the standing still thing, we leave the room, count to 10, return and ignore then resume play or whatever you want to do. It seems to work - mostly!
