Ive aparently got to try adding things to his diet or chilli aparently works directly onto his pooh but im reluctanat to try this as he has a sensitive tummy!
Any suggestions on what to do or advice on if he is needing something in his diet would be great!

Or instead of spending so much time putting things on it you could just pick it up before he eats it?
There are normally two reasons why this happens

A learned behaviour, sometimes from mum as a pup but also occurs as a result of being reprimanded for soiling as part of house training. If the dog is punished for making the mess, hiding the evidence can avoid the unpleasant consequences.

I went through this and did a lot of research on the problem (coprophagia). Some foods that the dog finds hard to digest end up being expelled still containing plenty of nutrition and it is not uncommon for many wild animals to consume their own waste and digest it for a second time. It is just natures way of getting the most out of the food available. It is also common to find that a dog may be lacking in certain key elements of its diet and so eats its own waste in an attempt to fill the gap. This is where the myths about adding things to the diet comes in, yes they do solve the problem but not because they 'flavour' the waste, they just provide the minerals or elements that the dog is searching for.
In the end all I did was change my dogs food and bingo, cured over night.
