Any suggestions how to stop my pup jumping up?

Roxy is 5 months old and keeps jumping up, she will jump up and if she doesn't get attention that way she will jump off the ground so she is at eye level with you
Of course we tell her 'OFF' when she jumps but it does nothing (she understands 'off' as we use it alot to get her off furniture) I have tried ignoring her and the usual turning away trick but she just follows scratching me (in a digging motion) and it hurts! Sometimes it's like we are doing the Conga!
We have been consistent for weeks and weeks but getting nowhere
HELP!

Without saying a word to her, or by making eye contact, either take her by the collar and remover her from the room and give her a time out. Or herd her from the room and give her a time out. DO NOT hesitate as soon a she does it, remove her. Close the door and carry on with life. Don't call her back to the room after a while just go into the other room and act normal walk out of the room and back to your original position. If you speak, she has got what she wanted "attention" you have to be silent and have no eye contact what so ever.

Agree ^^

I'm a sod for teaching my dogs bad habits to commands and then the opposite.
Louie was taught "cuddles", where he would jump up and put his legs around your waist or when you knelt down he'd stand on your legs and put his head on your shoulder. I then taught him, "No more/jump" So now I can give him a command to cuddle me or another person or I can just say "No jump/more" and the behaviour is stopped/doesn't happen.. I don't suggest you do this though if you categorically do not want your dog to jump up you at all..

Smile jumping-up - see LAYLA on UTube

- teach her to SIT for any attention.
she cannot sit -AND- jump-up on U.

- see this post for a series of U-Tube videos, with a habitual adult-jumper who has hurt people -
a 2 or 3-YO Golden, she's knocked people flat as she doesn't merely jump, she tackles them.

Lightbulb jumping up & NILIF: pretty-please, may i?, & thank-U

BTW, when i say, "teach her to SIT for any attention", i am being literal - i do mean Any, Every, All attention.

NILIF is the easiest way to teach this: Nothing In Life Is Free.
for every WANT & every NEED, the dog must ask please & pre-pay; i prefer to use Sit as the coin of the realm.

to get the bowl from counter to floor for brekkie or dinner, Sit.
to get attention or petting, Sit. to get the door open to enter or exit, Sit.
to get the leash on for a walk, or off once back home, Sit.
to get into the car, out of the car, onto the sofa,... Sit.

anything; everything; all the time; for the owner[s] & the visitor[s] & the relative[s] & total stranger[s] -
if the dog wants any attention, is ready to eat, wants a walk, etc, Pretty-please & thank-You beforehand.

dogs figure this out very quickly, if the owner gives them lots of opportunities to practice;
soon SIT becomes a default behavior [the dog does it whenever s/he is in doubt, & not sure what to do],
which is fine; sit is safe, the dog is stationary, U can deal with what's happening without worry that the dog
will take off, be hurt, get in the way, zip out the door, etc.

FOR THE DOG -
sit becomes a way to COMMUNICATE with people: s/he can now ask for something they want, simply by
offering a neatly-done Sit, usually while looking at the nearest human - their owner, the pet-sitter, whoever.
watch for this - the first time the dog asks, TRY TO SAY 'Yes!' -- unless it is literally a dangerous thing that's wanted.
U want to encourage the dog to use their 'pretty-please', & if the first time they try it, they're told, 'No', they may
not try again.

She understands off means get off the furniture. She isn't on the furniture so it wont do anything. A command can only have one meaning

Re: Any suggestions how to stop my pup jumping up?

Leashed for life has good advice here and this is what we've been doing; using the 'sit' method. The dog soon catches on and you'll see that they soon start sitting even without request (when once it begins to sink in) in allsorts of situations - in that the hope for a good outcome on their part - i.e with food on offer, the prospect of being allowed to go up to another dog or even being able to 'get to' a person to greet them.

We had a bad problem with the jumping up and tried all methods of aversion but I put it down to being in his Lab genetics and character that he just couldn't help himself!!!!! Now that he's 11 months it's improving finally as he almost thinks about it before a jump now in the lead up to it and then thinks twice so he doesn't get the 'NO'! therefore they're reducing in frequency - hurrrahhhhhhhh! He knows it wrong to do and also knows he has to sit to get a response and pet/attention.

Re: Any suggestions how to stop my pup jumping up?

teaching sit is fine, but you have to reward FAST enough or she'll jump.

Some dogs find the ACT of jumping entertaining and rewarding.

Thus, teach her to jump, then teach her to sit/walk without jumping.

i.e. put JUMPING ON CUE.

a REALLY NICE VIDEO: Putting a Dog's Unwanted Behavior on Stimulus Control (to get Rid of it)-Jumping - YouTube

Also IGNORING DOES NOTHING. you have to step back (not turn away).... however, for some dogs, it can INCREASE THE BEHAVIOR OUT OF FRUSTRATION.

Once you have taught negative punishment, 'no' step away - you add light corrections to 'no'. (obviously you've taught alternative behavior already (sit).
