Rescue dogs- need help with toiletting and barking!!

Hi all,

I am new to this and I hope you can help. Just over a week ago I took on two rescue dogs. They had been kennelled together and so arte fine with eachother. I have a Parson Russell Cross aged 1-2 and a crossbreed aged 5-6. Generally they are quite good but there are a couple of little niggles I want to work on.

1) The Parson cross is generally good about her toiletting but when I am at work or occasionally over night she will poo and wee in the utility room where they sleep. My dad calls roundto let them out at lunch but she doesnt always see a bathroom trip as her first port of call. I dont know how 6ot train her as she only does this in my absence and doesnt have any other accidents in the house. Can anyone help??

2) The crossbreed is good and walks well off his lead. He is attentive. The first week we had him he howeld a lot of the night and we now have a DAP diffuser and the radio on and generally have quiet nights. However when he is over excited eg going for a walk, you just come in or when he sees other dogs or cats he barks like mad and it is really noisy and piercing. Any ideas how we can work on stopping this.

I am really worries if we cant sort these things I will struggle at home and family and friends will be reluctant to dogsit while we are away etc...

On top of all this I have just found out I am pregnant and am really worried about coping with all three!! Maybe it is just my hormones but I really need to feel like I can cope. They are not bad dogs but it will be a lot for me to manage. I had thought of taking them to obedience classes just so their behavious can become more reliable.

Help please, I am a little scared with all these new challenges ahead!!

Thanks

Jan
