Re: Barking Mad

Instead of only putting him in the car when u are going to the field put him in to play with him, take him to the shops etc it does sound like he's getting over excited but the more u take him random places or do things in the car with him without actually taking him out the better he'll become
It's a bit of a pain in the arse but works well x

Agreed.

Years and years ago when I was 9 and we got a Springer, we read that in order to make a dog happy about going in the car, you should always make sure that they went somewhere nice.... which resulted in a dog who leapt around the car the entire journey, with smears all over the windows from an over-excited nose.

Later when I got my Lurcher I used to take him EVERYWHERE - even if I was only popping out for petrol. Sometimes I'd give him a pigs ear or something to chew, just to teach him that going in the car meant nice things, but not always EXCITING things.

Re: Barking Mad

I saw a tv programme where they blacked out the windows so the dogs couldn't see out and the dogs immediately stopped barking!! Is he in a crate you could cover?
