Lightbulb socialization & habituation of a litter: Liver Labs

‪Socializing With The Puppies‬‏ - YouTube

Brenda Winslow gets the litter to howl along...

‪Socializing With The Puppies -- Part II‬‏ - YouTube

the 4 to 5-WO pups are still wobbly on their feet, but are playful & sociable.

‪Singing With The Puppies -- the Sequel!‬‏ - YouTube

3 days later: notice how just a few bars of whistling get all the pups to howl.

‪Jake, The Chocolate Lab, Playing With The cat‬‏ - YouTube

Brenda lets him wander in & out between her knees, makes no attempt to hold Jake in place, does not reward
his standing still, gives him no reason to enjoy the brush, & in fact touches him so tentatively that it's teasing.
Bummer. oops - bad lesson.

imagine if instead she had
- parked him on a picnic table or bench
- rewarded him every time he approached her and/or stood still.
- brushed him with a firm, comfortable stroke to ease itchy places [instead of dabbing the brush on him
& snatching it back off, so he can chase her retreating hand & the brush...].
- asked him to lie-down & given him treats while he lay, so that she could clip the tips off his claws
with ordinary fingernail clippers [human type].
- wiped inside his ears with cotton-balls; wiped his eyes; examined his teeth; each for 1 small treat.
that's a total of 5 small actions & 5 pieces of low-fat cheese, puppy-kibble, or other yummy.
