Re: SO CALLED dog trainer FINED
Firstly in his defense, Who would have thought a choke chain could do such damage, I can only imagine it was so bad due to the type of dog having loose skin around that area, but I'm only guessing at that.
After saying that, I don't agree with using choke chains, I don't think they work very well. If you were teaching a trick, you wouldn't even think about tightening a chain around the dogs neck for getting it wrong. Whats the difference? Reward training works so much better, The dog gets in the correct position, and get rewarded and soon learns. There are plenty of trainers out there that think they can bully a dog into submit ion. Well probably you can, but you then have a subdued dog acting out of fear rather than a dog thats enjoying life and responding to your commands much faster because he wants to, because its fun, because he gets rewarded. The only time i think force might be the correct way forward is with dealing with aggression, and even then, I certainly wouldn't be using a choke chain. |

Re: SO CALLED dog trainer FINED
Has anyone seen the new collars that they use in some places.
They are a metal collar with spikes on the inside, when the dog pulls the spikes inside open up. Im suprised that trainer had not changed to them recently. We had a dog come in with one on at training. We were all horrified and made them remove it.
