Re: Why does everything= bite!?
Did you try to leave a room? You are showing a dog if he behaves that way he looses you. Sometimes when you stand still dogs can start another play: how hard I should bite her and make her move or scream and they get overexcited. It's mean more bites.
About all commands you are using. Did you teach them the dog? Does he knows what no or off means? |

Well, I think he knows what "off" means because he does get off but he just bites my hand on the way down etc. As for "no" not too sure yet... I think that's a work in progress with that word lol |

Re: Why does everything= bite!?
If you think that your dog knows its mean he doesn't
![]() From your description "off" command I can see that off means: before I get off the sofa I have to catch your hand and bite it. Try to play on/off without waiting when the dog is on the sofa. Take a treat ask the dog to jump on the sofa and treat him (I would use only a verbal prise to reinforce off more) and now you ask him to get off again luring him off the sofa. First 3 times you can lure him with food later on use empty hand but still give him a food reward. |

Re: Why does everything= bite!?
Whenever his teeth make contact, say "ah-ah" and walk out of the room immediately with him shut in. You dont have to stay out for long (half a minute to a minute is fine) just make sure your out of view.
Walk back in and if it happens again, repeat. Repeat this every single time it happens and he will soon learn that nipping gets him nowhere. Each time he interacts with you without nipping, make sure you praise him. If he takes it too far and nips, repeat the "ah-ah" and walk out. Also make sure he has something appropriate to chew on at all times, chewing is necessary for puppies and adult dogs. |

There mayb other reasons, or they may not be other reasons, but, one thing is certain, the first event was positivly reinforced for some reason, as was the second and the 3rd, that would be enought ensure 'habit' repetiotions of positivly reinforced behaviour (reward behaviour). . |

Re: Why does everything= bite!?
I found leaving the room didn't work because it gave Kenzie a lovely game of 'bite the feet as mum walks away'. What did work was I'd jump onto a chair and put my feet up so she couldn't 'get' me and stare purposefully at the ceiling. She'd usually try to get me, then bark at me in frustration, then finally give up and do something else. It didn't take very long of me using this method before she got the idea that biting me meant I ignored her and studied the ceiling instead
![]() Of course that only works if you've got a small dog who can't jump up onto the chair you're on! |
