Re: Kai will jump up.

What do you usually do when he jumps up? What have you tried to stop him jumping up and how long have you tried each thing for?

usualy if i tell Kai in a harsh voice "no" he will listen, but not when it comes to jumping up.i've ignored him after i've told him off...i've tried ingoring him when i enter the room,or if company comes.and now i'm trying to get him to sit and stay until he calms down.

My mums labpoodle is a terrible jumper, and he jumps with his feet splayed out and scratches as he tries to stand up against you. So I'll be watching this one with interest~!

Re: Kai will jump up.

Zipper used to be terrible for jumping up - he's not 100% as he still jumps up if he's been left home alone when we get back, but we are getting there

What we do is completely ignore him, each time he jumps up I turn my back and step away I don't look at him or make any sounds, as soon as he sits I immediately praise him and bend down to his level so he is rewarded for being calm. (I can be going round in circles for 10 minutes)
If we were expecting someone we would put his lead on so he was unable to jump up at visitors and as soon as he was calm the visitor would come down to his level and pay him some attention.

Another tip if you're dog is food orientated is to drop food on the floor as soon as you walk in and he will learn to look to the floor instead of jumping up. (I haven't done this but it worked for a fellow classmate at puppy class)
