Rocky doesn't like the kitchen!

On reading a lot of your posts I got to thinking that one day when I leave Rocky out of his crate during the day, I would not want him to be in the family room (too much temptation) but in the kitchen as there is nothing in there for him to damage.

So the last couple of days I started leaving him during the day in the kitchen instead of the family room. He doesn't like it - started whining and barking - he was OK if I shut him in his crate but not if I left the crate door open (I have left him previously in the family room with the crate door open and usually he's in there asleep when i return to the room).

I think it may because he can't see out. In the family room we have big patio doors so he can see out into the garden (not a lot to see but still the occasional car parking) but in the kitchen he can't see out! I was thinking maybe I should try a baby gate across the door instead of shutting the door -so he can see into the hall?

Re: Rocky doesn't like the kitchen!

Monty absolutely hated the kitchen at the start, but overtime he is slowly getting used to the idea and now we've got to 20-25 minutes within any major barking etc.

Just have patience, plenty of distractions for him and keep with it.

Keep us updated!
