Re: Did I do the right thing?

Thanks for clearing that up.....

Me and this lady use the same Vets but I choose not to see the vet she does as I have seem him treat my mums Chihuahuas in the past and I havent liked his practise or his advice (this was before I got my Akita).

He cant go generalising like this and I did think he meant my dog might have crushed the lady dogs neck. I am sure if my dog was meaning to cause her dog harm she would have done, I think my dog was merely protecting herself after she got such an alarming greeting from her other two dogs.

I am so annoyed I never checked my dog over and now she has a swollen lip, two bite marks and she was limping slighly afterwards - probably due to trying to run away from the ladys growling/snarling dogs!!! I know when I attend the vets tomorrow my bill will be very large.

Re: Did I do the right thing?

If it were me, I would take my dog to the vet, Get on the record, she was charged by two dogs whilst on lead that were out of control, then a 3rd dog
owned by same owner, attacked her causing the injuries, in the process the dog was pinned down by your dog in defence. Or you dont even need to put the last bit. Dont know if you plan to claim for your dogs injuries, but if you do
its down on record and you can state that on your claim form too.

If the woman rings again, and asks about insurance, tell her yours has been at the vets what the bill is and can you have her insurance details to claim for your dogs injuries. Im willing to bet a) her dogs might not be insured, or b)
she will just swallow the £57.00 she has paid out. Call her bluff and see what she says, meanwhile its on record what happened, people you see regularly know your dogs are not dog aggresive anyway and know your dogs.
