Re: roll over

Nice work! Funny, Roll-over is the only trick our dog just didn't want to learn. He just refuses it. Anyways amazing she is a such a quick learner and good luck with the other tricks. What tricks can she perform already?

Re: roll over

Great job

Behaviours like these are much more than tricks, however. Roll overs, but keeping them with their belly up, or 'Dead dog' are great things to use at the vets.

Also, hand targetting and 'touch' training is brilliant for fearful and reactive dogs, who will follow your hand whilst walking through busy environments.

Much more than just for show!

Re: roll over

well im really impressed with her, she learns so fast its amazing, she seems to be more interested in learning with better treats i.e peices of chicken rather than dry biscuits but i guess thats obvious really.

at the moment she only seems to want to learn for about 10 mins twice a day then she seems to loose concentration im hoping thats down to her age.

there is one more thing that she has learnt and thats not to go into the cat's feeding room ( which is a under stairs cupboard) even with food in there and the door open she wont go in there she just sits at the entrance looking in, not sure if she would go in unsupervised but we never leave her any way

Re: roll over

How do you teach them roll over?? I've been trying for a while, and it's not working I'm guessing you get them down first, then try to bait them over?

well basically i told her to lay then the first few times i rolled her over myself, she soon realised and done it her self.

belly up seems abit more difficult as she keeps going to far over but im gonna keep tryin

Re: roll over

The easiest way is to get the dog into a down and then lure their head around over one shoulder, then lure their nose over their back, which [in the perfect world!] should prompt a roll onto their back and over again.

It doesn't always go as smoothly though!
