Re: Help Something Has Gone Wrong ??

I too have got to agree with louise5031 on this one. Daisy was SO well behaved when she first came to live with me. But once she settled in she decided that it was infact her that owned the house, not us, she may sit where she wanted, demanded attention when she wanted it, ect ect ect. We rarely left her with the energy to be able to run like a loon around the house but im sure if she had it, she wud've.

Now its not like we have made a life-changing effort with her. But the basic 'I am leader' stuff spoken about above does gently but surely drive the message home that humans = 1 dogs = 2. Yes, dogs realise that you are not a dog but yet, it is you that protect them, you that controls the food, you that steps in when they get out of line and you that provides the warmth and comfort of a bed, so you are not a canine pack leader, but you are certainly in charge of alot that is important to them.

Now my dog is a lab, so the biggest problem we had was begging. To the degree that she was pulling at your clothes so you'd drop the plate or climbing onto the chair or table to eat off of it. We solved the problem by sitting on the floor with her while eating and just challenging her everytime she came near my food. That way she knew i was making no effort to hide food that was rightfully hers on a table where she cant reach it, i was eating it right next to her but she isnt gonna touch it.

With yours it sounds like a dominance thing maybe, so i guess the walking through doors first and eating FIRST may help a lil. Also, if he takes to lying in doorways, dont step over or round him, you own the place, he moves out of your way !

Thats my experience.
