Question Ewwwww :~/

does anybody have any idea why my four dogs insist on eating the kittens poop out if the tray, and how i can stop it? i do clean the tray as soon as i know they have been, we have a four storey house and with litter trays on each floor, sometimes the dogs get there first, i have tried covered litter trays but the kittens dont get on with them and did it on the floor instead. These parts i can handle and over come, i was just wondering if they do it because they are lacking something? the kittens eat both wet and dry food, whereas the dogs are on complete dry food, the two female dalmatians eat Bento senior, the male dalmatian is on canine UD form the vets and the puppy staff eats bento puppy/growth. they are all fit and healthy, apart from old age in some cases and the obvious problems we have with the male on the vet diet. Can any one give me any advise on what the dogs may not be getting to make them do this??

Thank you in advance

Becki x

The fish oil residues are smelly & delicious!

My pup would find where neighbours cats had been, so I avoided him foraging in front, and fortunately in the back he scared the cats off so they stopped toiletting in my garden and pestering the wild birds

I would imagine the cat poo contains all the undigestible carbs that cheap cat food is filled with. Tasty snack for a pup

Re: Ewwwww :~/

Cool. But basically the prob is the same, poo = tasty snack. So the behaviour (eating the kitty poo) is very self rewarding, and will continue.

Your options are:

1. Management - never let the pups near the poo,
2. Training - make the behaviour very unrewarding, or an alternative incompatible behaviour more rewarding.

Examples of these might be:

A) Leave a poo covered in something very unappealing to the dog (chilli sauce?)
B) Teach pups to go to a mat when kitty does a poo.
