Re: Do you train with treats?

Why wouldn't someone use treats to train with?

Re: Do you train with treats?

Most of ours seem to learn more quickly if there is food invloved, but as they begin to learn we alternate the food with praise and toys. We keep tennis balls as "special" - they know that when the tennis balls come out they have to do things to get them. On the other hand, the best "treat" we can give Baggio is to praise him - there is nothing he loves better than being told he is a good boy!

Re: Do you train with treats?

I use treats... And not the one u buy in the shop as what's the difference there to their usuall dry food.
Mine do anything for cheese or cooked chicken or sasauge

Usually u train by starting treating every time the dog does what u ask and then u treat occasionally and then u can treat the dog by playing or giving attention

So yes, I train with treats and my dogs listen to every command hehe

Re: Do you train with treats?

I voted yes, but next time round I dont think I will.

Our Westie now "performs" things like shaking a paw, sitting or going and sitting on his beanbag when he fancies a treat now. He is too clever!

Don't you just love 'em?!! The girls taught Gabby to "speak" on demand using treats - she used to make a kind of "uff" sound. Like your westie, she's extended that and she now "uffs" whenever she fancies something.

Re: Do you train with treats?

Yeah, I more of less train my german shepherd who is nearly 7 months - with treats, he has knows sit and paw, stay, leave. But nothing more really, bless him.
