Exclamation 'man bites dog' to DISCIPLINE [his words] the dog

this article on Yin's 'Dominance Controversy' page was dead, so i went looking -
Man Who Bit His Dog Must Stand Trial - SFGate
this happened in San Francisco, with a misdemeanor charge in March 2000 ["pouncing" on his dog?]
and the biting incident on Sept 9th, found in the November arraignment to be a felony-cruelty charge.

the Lab was described as an '80-pound puppy' in September, but he's 6-mos older than he was in March,
so he may have been quite small when the 24-YO furniture mover 'pounced' on him, making the pup yelp so loudly,
one witness heard the shrieks from a block away. When he bit the dog's neck in September, one witness said it sounded
"as if the dog were being killed".

then about 5-days before his scheduled trial, he apparently has a stroke? -
Man Who Bit His Dog Misses Pet, Has Stroke / Alleged abuser goes to hospital instead of court - SFGate

there was one Toronto link that claimed [Dec 21, 2000] that he went to jail, but it was simply a one-line
throwaway in their summary of off-beat or odd news for the year; no link, no story, no confirmation.
