5 month old Pup licking her poo

Hi,

Sorry not a nice one guys. Sasha is 5 months and has started to lick her poo when she has been. She is also very interested in her bottom once she has been to poo.

She was wormed 4 days ago but I am not sure if this started before she was wormed.

Anyone else had this experince or knows what it is? I have looked at her poo and I cant see anything in it that should not be and I have looked at her rear end and all seems normal. She is not scooting or anything else and looses interested in her bottom a few mins after her poo.

Has the consistency of her stools changed at all? Sometimes excessive licking following elimination is due to irritation.

Thanks for the replyl

She has always had loose stools and the vet has given her some paste and this does help. But its keeps coming back so I give her rice to help bulk up but at times its really sloshy (sorry) but she is fine in herself. We are going to stop tip bits and treats as I think she may be allergic to some foods but its a nightmare trying to find out what. She is only a small chihuhuha x jack russell.

She does live to eat mud and bits in the garden. Not heard of CSJ champ is it a wet for dry food?

Re: 5 month old Pup licking her poo

Awe she looks gorgeous! Have just got a chi x jack russel and can't wait to see what he'll look like when he's older. Don't know why she licks her poo though, I feed raw but at the mo the new pup is on Natures Menue because he's been raised on commercial food, will start the change over soon, once he's settled.
I have always thought that commercial food smells very similar when it comes out as when it's eaten and the consistency is very much alike. A friends dog used to eat his poo and TBH it didn't look much different to when it's in the can. Raw fed poo is much smaller and hard, so I feel it's less likely to be eaten - just my thoughts on my friends dog. Think she used to pick it up mmiediately he'd done it so as he didn't get the chance to eat it. Eventually he stopped altogether.
Have heard it can be a deficiency in the diet too.

Anyway I'd love to see more pics of her - here's T-Bo below - stands for "the best one" lol!

Eight weeks old.
