Just to pick up on this, a well trained dog can be recalled from an in season biutch. However, it is very bad manners to take an in season bitch near other dogs, unless it is to stud, obviously!

Have you taught Ozzy the 'off' or 'leave' command? If so, stay out with him in the garden and when he does anything he shouldn't, use the command and reward him with a treat. Once he is learning, every so often when he is in the garden minding his own business, give him a treat. You'll need to supervise him 100% though until he gets the message.

I also agree that occupying him with something to do out there, like a bone or kong is a good idea.

No reason he cannot go to classes before he is done, and I know we have been round the houses on this one many times, but a year old is FAR too young to have a dog neutered IMO, especially if he is exhibiting 'hyper' behaviour as a puppy as it is possible he'll stay like that forever.

Is he a sprocker? If so, good luck!

I agree that there is no reason he cant go to classes???We take both our entire males to training

Agree with the a well trained dog can be recalled from an in season bitch, our lad was hassled by a JRT down the yard that kept waving it in her face, poor lad i had to put him in the car as he was turning his head away from her but she wouldn't bugger off

He was interested at first and knew what she wanted.....

Rotate his toys so he doesnt get bored with them.

I agree with the above, if a trainer told me I couldn't take an entire dog I would be looking elsewhere, I wouldn't even question why, I'd just be out of there.

Agree again. One year is too young for the snip. If it were me I'd put off the neutering and find a trainer that is willing to take him on before he's done.

I have never heard of an uncastred male not being welcome in a training class

I would strongly suggest that you find a class and attend once a week. I go with my 6 1/2 month old GSD for the socialisation. I train Luika myself (or try to ), but he needs interaction with other dogs and people.

We only pay £1.50 per lesson and its great fun
