Newly adopted bulldog

Hello! I recently adopted a 3 year old male bulldog.(2 weeks ago) He had been with the same owners and his sister since he was a pup. They had no children, but said he played very well with the neighbor children. He is so sweet to my husband and I, our 12 year old, and our pitbull puppy. However, he bit my 4 year old son, and is now growling at my 10 and 9 year olds. He also wont leave my 1 year old daughter alone. He's not mean to her, but wont stay out of her face or let her play. My instinct is to get rid of him, quickly!! My kids come 1st! But he has been through enough with the divorce of his owners, losing his home, and sister! Anyone have any advice on how we might be able to help this guy out?

Dont know how recently you have had him, but the sudden change after 3 years with his sister and the same owners is a big change for him. Also he may have been ok being petted with kids and outside the home, but a dog who has got to three without having previously lived with kids and been socialised around them again its going to be a big change.

Ifyou want to keep him then I would suggest that you get a qualified behaviourist to temprement assess him, and also give you some guidelines about behaviour management. Are you in the U.K.? I have a number for british Bulldog Rescue you could have a chat to them. They would give you experienced advice, and then at least if you decide not to keep him, then
they could probably help to at least ensure he finds a suitable home. If your not in the U.K. then the number I have wont help.
