Re: Help with new puppy's owner.

If she pees in the house, just ignore her, and clear it up, with special stuff to make sure it doesn't smell of pee anymore. Don't rub her face in it or anything, as that's not right.

Just take her outside, as soon as she wakes up from sleep, about 20 mins after finishing her food, after playing etc.

Re: Help with new puppy's owner.

hi kaisa624, really thanks and I really think that thing about rud pee on her nose is really wrong, I'll never do that.

News: I contacted the seller and she send me some photos of Bel's father. She sayed that around 5 months of age Bel's father, who have the "drop-ears", starts to stand up his ears about all the day. She sayed probably Bel's ears do the same: stand up with 5 months of age.

Here's a pic of Spaik (bel's father) with 5 months of age and a pic of Spaik a few days ago:

So I'll wait hopeful until Bel get 5 months (she completes 3 months at day seven of february).

Sorry my bad english and thanks again for all the help.
SmylleAndré.

Re: Help with new puppy's owner.

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of questions: My parents think that at night Bel (my puppy) will pee and leave faeces about all the house, so they told me to keep Bel on my room at night to sleep. I'm afraid that when I try to make she sleep in another room, in the future, she'll cry about all the night... Will it happen?

And I'm wondering if I can take Bel to take a shower or she need do be more older to take showers. She's two and a half months age, what do you think?

Thanks for any answers and sorry my bad english,
SmylleAndré.

Re: Help with new puppy's owner.

Hi Andre.
Well my 3 chihuahuas sleep in my room at night, in my bed actually. lol
It did help the 2 i got as puppies to settle better to be at least in a crate by my bed at night to start with.
I just let them out now and then to pee and poo.
Then when they could hold it all night i let them sleep in my bed with me, but that is just what i like to do.

Even having Bel in your room in a dog bed would be a good idea, so you can take her out quicker when she needs to go to the toilet.
Just make sure there is nothing she can chew or get into if you choose a dog bed.
There may be accidents, but you will soon get a sense of things.
I chose a crate cause they tend to not pee or poo where they sleep.
At least mine didnt.
Just make sure she goes toilet right before bedtime.
As far as crying if you dont allow her in your room in the future, yeah well she may get used to you being close by.
You might find you like her there too. haha!!

I bathed mine about a month after they came home, just to let them settle a bit first.
I think Bel is old enough, and the earlier the better so she gets used to it.

Re: Help with new puppy's owner.

Dear SmylleAndré

Just wanted to say hello and wish you good luck with your lovely puppy Bel. There is a lot of good advice on here so hope some of it works for you! Puppies are hard work but looks like you love yours already! They will pee and poo sometimes where you wish they wouldn't but as others have said, ignore it and clean up the mess and give big praise when Bel does toilets in the right place.

Your English is really good! Can I ask how old you are? And I am no expert but don't worry too much about the ears - every puppy is different and that's why we love them!

Re: Help with new puppy's owner.

Hi The3DChis,

Bel sleeps in a dog-bed with no ruffles or anything that she can chew. My parents don't belive me when I say that at night Bel go to toilet nearly eight o'clock then go sleep and don't go again until morning, they don't even looking my room at seven o'clock morning completly clean... But I'll trying to make they agree with the idea of Bel take her bed to the laundry and sleep there. Thanks for the advices. About the bath, any advice? I just think she's pretty small and fragile to take a bath, don't you?

Hi laineyvee13, really thanks. Make sure I'll hardly try all that advices the best I can. I'm 16. Ok I'll not worry I'm just wondering if the ears can't stand up if can be a sign of some kind of health problem or lack of nutrients while she's with the seller... But I'll wait hopeful thats not a health problem. "Standed-up-eared" or not I love her and she's really beautiful.

Thanks again you all and sorry my english,
SmylleAndré.

No not at all, she is defo not too small to take a bath.
My chis are teeny, and i was doing it when 2 of them were puppies
I shower them in the sink though.
Lots of people put their wee pups in the bath.
She will be just fine.
Just give lots of praise as you wash her and a treat before and after.
