11 week old puppy with agression

I would greatly appreciate any help or advice. We recently got a frenchbulldog x boston terrier pup. After one week he started to growl at us when picked up, if not getting his own way and occasionally while on our laps. Last night he bit my husband he came to him asked to be picked up after about one minuet he started growling then bit him it was completly unprovoked. I have to small children so i do not want this behaviour to continue as i could not forgive myself if i ever put them in any danger. I do not want to give up on him just yet as he is still so little just some help to try and fix the situation. I am an experienced dog owner and he is enrolled in puppy school which is great for basics but not sure they are able to deal with the larger issues. Thank you.

Get him checked out by a vet. He could be in pain.

Get him checked by a vet.. And please remember he is a dog.. And not all dogs like to be picked up and kept as little lap dogs.. although my weimy would argue with me over this..

Re: 11 week old puppy with agression

He has been fully checked twice both times he growled at the vet who told me hes all clear but to give him a tap on the nose when he does it. We did for a couple of days but I didnt feel this was the right approach. He is a real snuggle bug and seems to love all the cuddles and attention but every now and again its like the programming in his brain goes a bit haywire and he just turns. I have had dog in the past some with o few issues but always respected the family and apropreate behaviour. This is not just your typical puppy play and mouthing.

Please don't tap your dog on the nose.. It will damage it.. Have you started puppy classes yet..

Re: 11 week old puppy with agression

I have started puppy classes but not much use for the aggression. He is a smart little thing as will follow most things I tell him. The nose tapping was only done for a short period as I did not feel it was right and that it would just cause more aggression and confusion.

I do wish vets wouldn't dish out behaviour/training advice; most of them don't have a clue

He's a baby - this is more likely to be him testing his boundaries than actual aggression - you should try having a labrador puppy - some of them are real crocs

lol. same with a roughie..............reminds me of a story of an owner with a 10 week old rough pup that wouldn't let them go into the kitchen and they were afraid of it.
