Re: embarrassing problem

just got back from the vets the poor dog had caught it on something I will cetainly take note of the breeding advice as previously stated I had a bitch for 15 years before this and didnt even think of breeding her. I guess it was because I had a lot of trouble finding the same breed papillion/yorkie as her anywhere that the idea of breeding when I did find one came up.

Glad it's nothing too serious!

Hope he is on the mend now.

What you end up with from breeding these two will not be Papillon x Yorkie anyway as the other one has Chihuahua in it doesn't it?

That's good, hope your boy is on his way to feeling more comfortable and it is nice to hear that you may rethink breeding, I really do hope you do decide against it. As said crossbreeds are ten a penny and there simply are not the good, permanent homes for all the dogs being bred.

Let us know how things go and if you need help or advice, just shout

Re: embarrassing problem

This is not a critisism on you personally, because your not the first and sadly not going to be the last to fall into the hands of iffy "breeders".

Personally I think the whole situation sounds very suspect. A person who will take a dog from a previous family home in the view for using it for breeding purposes then leaves it in a shed I think you said for 2 months and passes it on again when they can sell it, together with the fact they are just breeding all manner of crosses sounds far from ethical.

Honestly if it were me, I would just sort any problems they have out like the toilet training etc bring them up right, have them neutered and spayed and keep them as family pets. I would also get them insured asap, as if this "breeders" practice is to go around collecting dogs for breeding from rehoming ads and free to good homes, which I suspect may be probable. then his "breeding stock" are going to be of unknown parentage and unknown health problems too.

Re: embarrassing problem

hope the boy recovers well and you do take the advice and get him neutered, noone reputable would let you have a male of that age and a bitch pup together.

Re: embarrassing problem

Glad that the little boy is ok. Yorkies are prone to these sorts of issues so that may be a consideration when it comes to breeding or not.

All the humping, peeing and erections not going down is probably stress related. This is a big change for this guy and after having spend so much time in kennels he is likely to have de-socialised somewhat.

You need to get crate training asap and get these two on excellent toilet training routines: Crate for Calm | Pet Central's Pawsitive Dawgs Blog! and Potty Pees & Qs | Pet Central's Pawsitive Dawgs Blog! Housetraining handouts available from here too: http://petcentral.yolasite.com/printables.php

Crate training done properly will help with alone training, housetraining, settle training, self control so is going to be vital for puppy and especially the adult.

Best of luck

Re: embarrassing problem

Hi again thanks for replies yes I did feel a bit got at for even thinking of breeding later on but i do appreciate the honesty. however At at the end of the day if nobody ever breed again we would not be able to have a faithful friend. But having said that I do agree there are plenty of unwanted dogs in the world. I also agree with the reply about the breeder on the 14month boy dog he said he was a papillionxchuhuahua the injections record he gave us said papillionxyorkie the vet wasnt to sure of it being either. I have decided to get him done as soon as possible which will also hopefully also stop his full erection whenever we come in from walk and concentrate on housetraining and general training him. I have borrowed a crate and will be following the guides he is getting better at not weeing quite so much indoors so hopefully he is learning already need to sort out his pooing at night as well.
