barking at other dogs
Today we have been with our 2 in the town to sozialise them and them getting used to noise and cars and people.
The thing is, this time we passed quiet a few dogs today and cobi went basooka every single time. Started barking at them and pulling like hell towards the other dogs. I was confused what to do. The barking made the other dogs bark and the other owner had to hold his dog back. To be honest I don't know what to do in this situation. I tried with no and didnt work. I am scared if I keep pulling him and stuff people will think I'm cruel ![]() What do I do in this situation? |

Re: barking at other dogs
I hope you get this sorted hun,
My friend has the exact same thing with his gsd funnily enough he owns a NI aswell and I met up with them the other day and both of his are aggressive bully's now I dont know whats happened to them as they are both under 8 months old but they were awful, thankfully my 2 put them in their place but it is a terrible thing to have happen. The only thing i would suggest is dont fuss him or pet him or touch him when he is barking like this as he will see it as positive behaviour and then maya will start to do the same thing which will make things worse x I hope someone comes along with some advice for you hun. Oh edited to add when my 2 bark at something i dont want them to i ignore them then when they go quiet i praise them x |

Re: barking at other dogs
Hi i have the same problem with Bella, she barks at other dogs as we walk past them no matter how big that are (brave girl)
I give her a firm tug on the lead and say no, get her to sit down and focus on me then reward her when she settles and is looking at me not the dogs. You can also get halti collars which go over the muzzle (helps with the pulling) - i am going to keep going as i am with her for now - when we walk and she pulls i say 'no' and stop until she stops then walk again - its a long process but getting there. She will be a strong girl though so might have to look at the halti further down the line if we dont get there (i am just always worried they look like a muzzle and make her appear like she is aggresive) Becky |

Re: barking at other dogs
I'm not 100% sure but it doesnt sound aggressive barking to me. He didnt growl or anything.
It was the same type of barking like he would bark at the cats when he is on the lead and they move and we don't let him run towards them. I just grabbed his lead in the town situation and walked away from the other dog pulling him behind me. I wouldnt say he is aggressive towards other dogs as at the training he barked too but then calmed down and just watched the other dogs. |
