Two dachshund pups fighting
Hi everyone,
Hope someone can help with this distressing problem. I have two dachshund pups both male but one is 6months old (Archie) and the other is 5months old (Boris) who are now constantly fighting with each other in a savage manner, certainly not play fighting.
I have just returned from a weeks holiday during which the pups were staying with a friend. During their stay with her they did do a bit of serious fighting but only on a few occaisions. However on return to our home almost immediately a dog fight started which we split up. The pups are fine when we are out for walks etc, it just seems to be when we are in the family home they are constantly staring each other out and starting fights. We are now having to crate one of them for periods at a time while the other is free to walk about. we swap this arrangement around to try and treat them equally and are also not giving them as much attention and trying to enforce our status as pack leaders.
the older dog will be neutered this week.
DOes anyone have any suggestions as to what we should be doing or have any experience of this sort of thing.
any help would be really appreciated as we really need to get back to our old ways when the boys were adorable and not making us distressed.
cheers,
sam
