There was a story in New Scientist about dogs who saved their owners, by repeatedly barking at a small "rash" on their skin. They had it checked by GP and discovered it was malignant, and required removing. The article was about experiments using dogs sense of smell to aid medics.

Think I've heard anecdote repeated on radio, seems to crop up every few years.
