Help please? introducing a dog to a duck

Hi

I am looking for some advice - I'm moving into my partner home in the next 6 months, I have a 1 year old Jack Russel and my partner has 3 ducks (2 female and and one male) the male is more of a house duck and 3 years old.
tHow do I go about introducing my dog to the duck and vice versa without any disasters?

This is worrying me quite a bit and any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Oh thats a new one! How is she with other animals in general .. does she chase birds in the garden? I think thats the first thing to think about as i imagine alot of this will be about the individual dog.

From there you can work out how you introduce them ... do the ducks roam around or will they have a little pen - you could start by just having them in the pen and let her sniff them and see how she reacts ...

I am sure someone on here will have done this before and give you some more advice ... good luck!

Very Carefully I should imagine!!

I've been trying to get Max used to the Rabbit and although he licks her nose through the cage I'm not sure I like the look on his face when he sees her running around and hes behind the baby gate!!!

Have to introduce through cage / pen first, maybe get a little muzzle for the first introduction , just in case, could be the end of a lovely relationship!!! Only joking, good luck.

Ummm.....

Find the most life-like toy duck you can and stick it next to the other ducks only outside the pen. Then you can reward good behaviour, punish bad without any duck having to suffer ?

Maybe a dead stuffed duck left in the pen for a while so it smells very duck like then repeat the above ?

I dont know, just throwing some ideas out there.
